Why media training

Harness the power of effective media engagement

If you are placing the reputation of your organisation or service onto someone's shoulders as a 'spokesperson', you owe it to them, as well as yourself and your clients or customers, to ensure they are adequately equipped and prepared for the job. They may appear confident and competent in an office environment but, in the street with a microphone thrust into their face, or worse, a press conference as part of a 'media scrum' can be a very different matter.

The result of a poorly delivered interview can be highly damaging for any organisation. If you employ communications teams to take care of this, how up to date are they in understanding the current media environment? The industry has undergone huge change and continues to evolve as technology makes it easier for anyone to set up as a media organisation. Too often people are put forward for an interview without adequate preparation or understanding of the likely pitfalls.

The design of our training is core to that and we incorporate the following into our courses:

  • A thorough briefing of the rapidly changing media environment and how that might impact your organisation

  • Realistic interview scenarios, across a range of media - including online, radio and TV - to test key communicators in a safe environment where mistakes don't matter

  • The four pillars of effective communication...and the essential element that underpins them

  • Our simple, easy to remember system of interview preparation.

  • How to craft concise and impactful messages that resonate with your target audience

  • Master the art of non-verbal communication and on-camera presence including techniques to project confidence, manage nerves and convey credibility

  • How to anticipate and answer difficult questions

  • 'Bite size' training options for executives on tight deadlines

  • Fast response practice interviews for last-minute interview requests.
